Steven Osborne, born 1971, was named the Royal Philharmonic Society’s Instrumentalist of the Year in 2013, and his Hyperion Records recording of Prokofiev and Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition won the solo instrumental Gramophone Award in the same year. He had already won Gramophone's Concerto Disc award for works by Britten in 2009, a year in which he was also short-listed for his recording of Rachmaninov’s 24 Preludes.
