In 2011 Joshua Bell became the Music Director of the Academy of St Martin in the Fields.

Mr. Bell made his BBC Proms debut on the 2nd of August 1990 in a performance of Beethoven's Violin Concerto in D major with Claus Peter Flor conducting the Philharmonia Orchestra.
