In 2007 Daniel Rowland replaced Andrew Haveron who had joined the quartet in 1999 in place of Michael Thomas. Paul Cassidy replaced Alexander Robertson in 1982.

The quartet was formed as the Cleveland Quartet in 1972 consisting of brother and sister Michael and Jacqueline Thomas with friends Ian Belton and Alexander Robertson.
