During the BBC Proms season of 1967 Mr. Haitink conducted the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra on the 10th of September with a programme including Haydn's Symphony No. 96 in D major (Miracle), Willem Pijper's Six Symphonic Epigrams and Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde with Mezzo-soprano Janet Baker and tenor Ernst Haefliger, and on the 8th of September 1967 in a performance of Schubert's Overture in C major in the Italian Style. He also conducted the same orchestra on the 6th of September in a performance of Schubert's Symphony No 9 in C major and the BBC Symphony Orchestra at the BBC Proms on the 25th of July in a performance of Mahler's Resurrection Symphony.

He made his BBC Proms debut conducting the BBC Symphony Orchestra on the 22nd of August 1966 in a performance of Bruckner's Symphony No 7 in E major.
